In a tumultuous scene, approximately twenty-four demonstrators invaded the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s budget reconciliation markup, voicing their opposition to rumored reductions in Medicare. In spite of the disgraceful and possibly unlawful actions of the protesters, Democrats seized the opportunity to express gratitude towards them, which led to widespread criticism.
For context, following the events of January 6, Democrats have regarded that date as a national day of mourning. Despite extensive media backing for the perilous George Floyd riots, far-left commentators in mainstream media have resorted to extreme reactions when discussing the Capitol riot.
Breaking the news on X, a prominent conservative account shared a video of the contentious protest that occurred on May 13, 2025. The caption accompanying the post stated, “HAPPENING NOW: Democrat boomers are staging an insurrection and attempting to push their way through Capitol Police at the Rayburn House Office Building.”
Outraged by the evident double standard exhibited by Democrats, users flocked to the comments section to voice their frustration. One comment read, “@GOPoversight will this be investigated? All the democrats illegally trespassing at the ICE detention facility and now this yet, J6 defendants had no due process these idiots scream about.”
Frustrated by the clear double standard in play, numerous comments drew comparisons between the Democrats’ response to this protest and their statements regarding the January 6th riots. One comment noted, “Interesting that they can do this not get shot (like Ashley) not get arrested (like J6ers) not be called insurrectionists (like Trump supporters). Enough of this nonsense, arrest them all.” In agreement, another account remarked, “Yep – that definitely looks a lot like J6! Has anyone seen Ray Epps? Scaffold Commander? Capitol Police firing rubber bullets and tossing tear gas grenades into the crowd yet?”
Employing sarcasm to emphasize their argument, numerous commentators ridiculed the anxious tone adopted by liberals when discussing January 6. One user humorously remarked, “I’m literally shaking right now. This is a direct attack on our democracy. We should lock them up for life! Am I doing this right?” Expanding on this sentiment, another individual stated, “This is the worst day in history!! It’s akin to Pearl Harbor!! It’s reminiscent of WWII!! Our nation is under siege by Democrats who are attempting to overthrow the US government!! They must be halted at all costs!! They must be incarcerated immediately!!”
Refuting their misguided protest, one user asserted, “They want individuals on Medicaid to think that Republicans are implementing significant cuts to the program, and they are heroically trying to prevent this from happening. The reality is they are eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse, and these elderly clowns are lying as they typically do.”
In response to the intense footage, one user commented, “Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ, expresses gratitude to arrested insurrectionists for obstructing the government from fulfilling its duties. Democrats continue to criticize January 6 while simultaneously engaging in insurrections, trespassing, and inciting violence against law enforcement. Can you perceive what is unfolding?”
